PAMPHYLIA. Aspendos. Circa 400-380 BC. Stater (Silver, 24 mm, 11.00 g, 6 h). Two nude wrestlers, standing and grappling with each other; between, uncertain legend written vertically. Rev. [ΕΣ]ΤFΔΙΙΥ (the Δ inverted) Slinger standing right; to right, triskeles running right; all within dotted square border within incuse square; three countermarks: boar standing right with inverted crescent above, within rectangular incuse, lion's head to right, within circular incuse, and boar's head to left above retrograde legend EΣ, within circular incuse. SNG Paris -. Tekin Series 4. Struck from a worn obverse die and with a minor graffito on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.

The last described countermark, that with the boar's head to left, must have been applied at Aspendos as it has the abbreviated ethnic EΣ.
